The May edition of Thursday Jam-up will include performances by musician Rahul Bakshi, upcoming band Promise Land (an
Alternative Rock Band consisting of Nikhil Nair, Kevin Sissoko and Nazar
Bukhari – the regulars at blueFROG), and KABIR ROCK (Neeraj Arya
-vocals & guitar, Mukund Ramaswamy- Carnatic Classical Violin, K
Dakshinamurthy - Carnatic Classical Percussion and Nitesh More - African
djembe) of National Streets for Performing

About the bands:
Rahul Bakshi remains the solitary
soldier of his family that continues the legacy of his musician grandfather
late Pt. Shri Vasant Manerikar who was a well-known Marathi folk exponent in
Goa. A music prodigy, Rahul has been
training under the renowned Pt. Shri Satyajit Talwalkar. Promise
Land, a band that formed when three friends coming together
to experiment with their favourite songs, which is now an Alternative
(acoustic) rock project. Their past collaborations have resulted in a Hard
Rock band called ‘After Promised Land’ and ‘Time Travel’ which performs at
festivals in Mumbai and Pune and recently debuted at Blue Frog, Mumbai.
Kabir
Rock is composed of four
eclectic musicians, who came together through their performances at the
stations with National Streets for Performing Arts (NSPA). Inspired by the
philosophy of Sant Kabir, they perform Kabir Dohas in Rock and Raggae styles
with Carnatic Classical Instruments.
About Thursday Jam-Ups:
Thursday Jam-Ups was initiated by High Street Phoenix to provide a
platform to upcoming musical talents of the city. In a recent past the
destination centre is known to have associated themselves with various social
causes, the awareness of which were propagated by Thursday Jam-ups. Band like
Stud in the box, Duncun Rufus, Winit Tikoo, Mihir Joshi's Bombay Rock Project, Kanchan
Daniel Band were few of the popular acts that has taken centre stage in this
favourite monthly property.
About National Streets for Performing Arts:
The National Streets for Performing Arts is an initiative to take Art to
the People by reclaiming public spaces for street performances. NSPA seeks to
champion public spaces as an alternative platform for performance, encouraging
greater interaction between artists and the community, creating spaces of
cultural interaction and energizing the very city and its people. NSPA aims to
support the livelihoods of less privileged and independent performers across
diverse genres.
